Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which started three years ago with the claim of providing free health facilities to the common citizens, Ayushman cards of about 54 crore people were to be made in the included states. According to a media report, so far only 22 crore 10 lakh beneficiaries have been able to make cards.
New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was started three years ago with the aim that a large population of the country can get better health services free of cost, but a media report says that in three years, 50 percent of the stakeholders will be covered under this scheme. Even Ayushman cards have not been made.
According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, Ayushman cards of about 54 crore people were to be made in the states included in the scheme. The scheme covers 10.74 crore families recorded in the socio-economic caste census held in 2011. According to an average of 5 people in a family, the number of beneficiaries of the scheme in the country is 537 million.
However, the states of West Bengal, Odisha and Delhi have not joined the scheme, while Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan have adopted the policy of making one card for each family member instead of one family member.
In this way, only 22 crore 10 lakh beneficiaries have been able to make Ayushman cards in the scheme.
According to the report, this number is 50 per cent of the total eligible cards. Also, recently a meeting was also held in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in this regard, in which the states were instructed to make cards soon.
It has been claimed in the report that during the meeting, there was a special discussion on the five election states including Uttar Pradesh-Punjab. More attention is being paid to these states so that electoral benefits can be availed.
In this regard, an official of the National Health Authority (NHA) says that the card is not necessary for treatment under the scheme. When treatment is needed, the card is generated in the hospital at the same time. That’s why it was not given priority.
At the same time, he said in a clarification that due to Corona, health service workers were posted on COVID duty, so there has been a delay in making the card.
If we look at the number of card manufacturing state wise, then the maximum number of cards are made in Chhattisgarh (82.5). After that the number of Jharkhand (65.9) comes. Madhya Pradesh (61.5) is at third place.
In Chandigarh, 57.4 in Gujarat, 51.2 in Gujarat, 46.1 in Himachal, 36.2 in Haryana, 17.7 in Maharashtra and 13.5 percent in Bihar have been able to make cards.
In the largest state Uttar Pradesh, cards of 5.75 crore people are to be made, but only 1,76,17,984 crore people have made cards so far. At the same time, out of 1.81 lakh beneficiaries in Goa, only 22 thousand cards have been made. In Manipur, out of 13.60 lakh people, only 3.89 lakh people have got cards.
In Punjab, 77.41 lakh out of 2.28 crore cards and in Uttarakhand 41 lakh out of 78 lakh people have been able to make cards.
Let us inform that under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-Jai), a family can get free treatment up to five lakh rupees every year in government and private hospitals by making Ayushman card.
