New Delhi: Police have killed a terrorist who took people hostage during prayer at a place of worship for Jews in Texas, USA. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said all those held hostage had been pulled out safely and that police had killed the terrorist. The terrorists took the people present there hostage on Saturday and also ‘livestreamed’ the incident.
The terrorist was demanding the release of Pakistani scientist Afiya Siddiqui. Pakistani scientist Afiya Siddiqui has been convicted of killing US military officers in Afghanistan and is lodged in a Texas prison. The person who took the hostage was describing himself as Afiya Siddiqui’s brother. However, Afia’s brother himself has come out and said that the hostage-taker is not Afia’s brother.
Let us tell you that Pakistani scientist Afiya Siddiqui was suspected of having links with Al Qaeda and was convicted of trying to kill US military officers in custody in Afghanistan. According to officials, the man also said that he wanted to talk to Afia. Afia Siddiqui is lodged in a federal prison in Texas.
Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist with degrees from Brandeis University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was sentenced to 86 years in prison in 2010. He is accused of assaulting and shooting US military officers after being detained in Afghanistan two years ago.
