Prabhakar Mishra, New Delhi: During the hearing in the case of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lapse, the Supreme Court questioned the show cause of the central government and said that it seems that you have decided what you have to do. Then why do you need to come to court? However, the Chief Justice said that a retired Supreme Court judge would supervise the investigation.
The counsel for the Punjab government said that as per the order of the Supreme Court, all the records have been deposited with the Registrar of the High Court.
The Punjab government’s counsel said, “Without any investigation, action is being said against our officials. This is not right. Let the Supreme Court conduct an independent and impartial inquiry into the matter and if our officers are found guilty, hang them.”
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on behalf of the Central Government said, “All these notices were issued before the order of the court. It was a complete intelligence failure during PM’s visit.” Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that it was the job of the DGP to give correct information about the road. Even if there is a road block, it was the administration’s job to keep a road open.
He said, “As per the Blue Rule, it is the responsibility of the DGP to ensure that these rules are followed. Maintain order in crowded conditions. It is unfortunate that the state government is protecting such an officer. There should be an inquiry as to why the state governments are doing this.
Questioning the show cause of the central government, the Supreme Court said that it seems that you have decided what you have to do. Then why do you need to come to court?
The Solicitor General said that we have not come to the court, the petitioners have come.
The Chief Justice of India said, “The question arises that when you have decided what action you have to take, against whom, then what will be the investigation. Then what is left to do for the court.
The Solicitor General requested the Supreme Court that the Central Government Committee should investigate and file a report within three weeks. The officer whose name is objected to by the State Government can be removed.
The Punjab government said that they do not have faith in the central committee, the cabinet secretary, IG, SPG and director of IB in the central committee, who already believe that the Punjab government is guilty. The Punjab government said that the court should form an impartial inquiry committee in the matter, we have no hope from the central committee.
