New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to give a big gift to Tamil Nadu today. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 11 new Government Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) in Chennai. This entire program will be done through video conferencing.
According to the information given by the PMO, new medical colleges are being set up at an estimated cost of about Rs 4000 crore. Out of this, about Rs 2145 crore has been provided by the Central Government and the rest by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
These medical colleges are being established in several districts including Virudhunagar, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram and Krishnagiri.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, MBBS seats have increased by 79.6% in the last 7 years, PG seats have increased by 80.7% and the total number of medical seats in the country has increased by 80%. Also the medical colleges have increased from 387 to 596.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the newly built Central Institute of Classical Tamil in the state capital. The setting up of a new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) in Chennai is aimed at promoting PM Modi’s vision to protect and preserve Indian heritage and encourage classical languages. This new campus was developed at a cost of Rs 24 crore and is sponsored by the central government. A library, an e-library, seminar hall and a multimedia hall are all available in the new campus.
