According to the price notification issued by the public sector petroleum marketing companies, the price of petrol in the national capital Delhi has increased from Rs 103.81 per liter to Rs 104.61 per liter and diesel from Rs 95.07 per liter to Rs 95.87 per liter. .
Petrol and diesel prices have been increased across the country, but their prices vary from state to state depending on local taxes.
Petrol and diesel prices were increased on 22 March after remaining stable for nearly four and a half months. Since then the prices have been increased for the 13th time.
In the last two weeks, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by a total of Rs 9.20 per liter.
The prices of petroleum products remained stable since November 4, 2021, before the assembly election process began in five states, including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. With the announcement of the election results on March 10, there was a possibility of increase in the price of petrol and diesel and their prices have been increasing continuously since March 22.
Moody’s Investors Services said last month that public sector petroleum companies lost $2.25 billion or Rs 19,000 crore in revenue due to non-change in vehicle fuel prices during the assembly elections.
According to Kotak Institutional Equities, petroleum companies will need to increase diesel prices by Rs 13.1 to 24.9 per liter and petrol prices by Rs 10.6 to 22.3 per liter if crude oil prices are between $100 and $120.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday targeted the government over the increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, saying that it is ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Loot Yojana’.
He also shared a graph on Twitter comparing the current cost of filling petrol tanks of motorcycles, cars, tractors and trucks with the prices in 2014.
