new Delhi: Today is the fourth day of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Despite all the criticism at the international level, Russia is still not ready to back down. Russia is constantly bombing Ukrainian military bases and residential areas.
Meanwhile, the Government of India has started ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue the Indians trapped in Ukraine. In this regard the Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla has shared many important information on Sunday. They said- I called both the ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine separately, conveying my concerns over the safety of Indian citizens. I gave information about the places where Indian citizens are present. Both the ambassadors took note of our concerns and assured us of the safety of Indian citizens.
Shringla said- Government of India has launched ‘multi-pronged’ Operation Ganga to rescue our citizens stranded in Ukraine. This withdrawal process will be done at government expense. operation so far Ganges Under the U.S., thousands of our citizens have been driven out of Romani and Hungary and another thousands have been driven out of Ukraine by land routes. Flights have been arranged for them. The border crossing for Hungary and Romania has worked so far, however, the exit point for Poland is closed as millions of foreign nationals try to flee. People who are near the borders of Hungary and Romania are directed towards their border points in stages.
According to Shringla, ‘Our embassy in Kiev and our ministry had issued several advisories before this situation happened. 4,000 of our citizens left before the conflict in accordance with these advice. We estimated that there are about 15,000 civilians left in Ukraine. Since the airspace in Ukraine was closed, we identified land evacuation options from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Specific border crossing points were identified and teams were deployed by the Ministry of External Affairs to assist in the evacuation process.
