Aligarh’s name will change
The names of many cities which were named by the Mughals or the British have been changed in Uttar Pradesh. The name of Allahabad was changed to Prayagraj, while Faizabad district became Ayodhya. But now amidst the ongoing elections in five states, there is an uproar in the name of Talanagari Aligarh. It is reported that a big decision has been taken amid the uproar in the Aligarh Municipal Corporation Board session.
Some time ago, BJP’s municipal councilor Sanjay Pandit proposed to change the name of Aligarh to Harigarh, at that time there was a lot of opposition to this proposal. But now the situation has changed. This proposal has been approved in the board meeting and now it will be sent to the administration. The name of the district will change after getting the approval of the government.
The proposal was approved in the Municipal Corporation meeting
On approval of the proposal to change the name of Aligarh to Harigarh in the Municipal Corporation meeting, Mayor Prashant Singhal said, “Yesterday in the meeting a proposal was put forward by Councilor Sanjay Pandit to change the name of Aligarh to Harigarh. Which was passed unanimously by all the councilors. Now it will be sent forward. I hope that very soon the government will take this into consideration and fulfill our demand of changing the name of Aligarh to Harigarh. ,
At present, assembly elections are going on in five states of the country including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. After these elections are over, preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will begin. In such a situation, speculations are being made that the issue of changing the name of Aligarh to Harigarh will remain hot during the general elections also. Although this proposal has been passed only in the Municipal Corporation Board session of Aligarh, the name can be changed only after the government’s decision on the proposal.
