Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday booked actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Shovik Chakraborty and others in a drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Filed the draft charge before the special court.
According to news agency PTI, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande said that the prosecution maintained the charge against all the accused as mentioned in the charge sheet filed before the court. The next hearing in the matter will now be held on July 12, 2022.
Sushant was found dead at his residence in Bandra on June 14, 2020. The CBI is probing the case related to his death. After that the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau also conducted separate investigations in the matter. At that time Sushant’s girlfriend Riya was arrested in this case in September 2020 and almost a month later the Bombay High Court granted him bail. Shovic and several others have also been indicted as accused for allegedly consuming, possessing and financing drugs. Most of them are out on bail.
According to the report, the prosecution has proposed to the court (NCB Filed Draft charges on Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty & Others) to charge Rhea and Shovik for drug abuse and purchase and payment of such substances for Sushant. The Special Public Prosecutor said that the court is about to frame charges against all the accused. During the hearing, Riya and her brother Shovik Chakraborty were present in the court.
He said that the court has said that charges will be framed only after the discharge petitions are decided. Riya and Shovik along with other accused appeared in the court on Wednesday. Special Judge VG Raghuvanshi has fixed the matter for hearing on July 12.
Recently, on Sushant’s second death anniversary, Rhea paid tribute on Instagram by sharing some unseen throwback pictures with him. He wrote, “Miss you every day….”
