Accident during Ganpati immersion
Ganpati Mahotsav was celebrated with great pomp across the country. Devotees immersed the idol of Ganesha with chants of ‘Tu jaldi aa…next year’ but during this period, major accidents took place in many cities. There are reports of many serious accidents from the capital Delhi and Nashik in Maharashtra to Agra and Mainpuri in UP. According to the information, 6 youths drowned in Agra and 5 people drowned in Mainpuri also.
Apart from these, during Ganpati Visarjan, two real brothers died after getting trapped in the swamp in Chilla Khadar, Delhi, while four people drowned in two separate accidents in Nashik, Maharashtra. It is being told that these accidents happened due to negligence.
Accident during immersion in Delhi
Four youths from Noida had come to immerse the Ganesh idol at Chilla Khadar near Mayur Vihar in the country’s capital Delhi. According to the police, the two children who died in the accident were real brothers and were residents of Nithari village. After this accident there was mourning in the village. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Youth died by drowning in UP
A major accident also took place in Agra and Mainpuri of Uttar Pradesh. Five people drowned during immersion in the pond near Markandeya Rishi Temple in Mainpuri, out of which three died, 2 are undergoing treatment. In Agra too, 6 people drowned during Ganesh immersion. Of these, 3 people could not be saved.
According to the information, special arrangements were made at Kailash Ghat, Poiya Ghat and Hathi Ghat in Agra, but the youth victims of the accident had gone to some other ghat instead.
Two major accidents in Nashik
Four people drowned in two separate incidents during Ganesh immersion in Nashik district of Maharashtra. Police have recovered the bodies of two of them while the search for two people is going on. This accident happened on Thursday evening. Here, at the ghat of river Godavari near Gadge Maharaj Bridge, two youths entered the water to immerse the idol of Ganesha. But they had no idea of the depth of the water.
During Ganesh immersion in Nashik, the second major accident happened in Valdevi Dam. Many children had gathered there during the immersion, two of them drowned in the water. The bodies of both were found at around six in the evening.
6 youth drowned in Udaipur
In Udaipur, Rajasthan also, 6 youths were washed away in water during Ganpati immersion. However, the policemen saved the lives of those youth by risking their lives. According to the information, the police had forbidden those youths but the youths did not agree.
These youth had gone to Vallabhnagar area of Udaipur for Ganpati immersion on Thursday. During this time they did not realize the strong current and 6 youths were washed away simultaneously. After which there was chaos there. According to Police Officer Ghanshyam Singh, police security was also deployed in the Ganpati immersion program, but these youth disobeyed the order.
Later the villagers welcomed the brave policemen. The police also appealed to the villagers not to go into the water at such times.
