New Delhi: Two planes narrowly escaped after colliding at Dubai airport. According to the information, both these aircraft were coming to India carrying hundreds of passengers and reached the runway at the same time for takeoff. The matter is of January 9, and its information has become public.
A person associated with the incident told Indian news agency ANI that- “Dubai-Hyderabad flight EK-524 was getting ready for take-off from runway 30R when the crew saw another aircraft approaching at high speed in the same direction. The take-off was immediately instructed to be rejected by ATC. The aircraft, which had crossed the runway, slowed down safely and cleared the runway via taxiway N4. Dubai to Bangalore Another Emirates flight EK-568, which was rolling, was to take-off from the same runway 30R.
UAE’s aviation investigation body The Air Accident Investigation Sector has launched an investigation into the incident at Dubai airport on 9 January. Hundreds of lives were saved after the take-off was immediately rejected, according to news agency ANI.
According to insiders, it was almost an incident of disaster. According to the Aviation Herald report, apparently the flight to Hyderabad was on the runway without permission to take off. Air traffic control had cleared the flight to Bengaluru for take-off. The flight to Hyderabad was ordered to abort take-off. At that time the plane had gone 2,600 feet down on the runway and had reached a speed of 130 knots. The pilots were able to slow the plane down to its high speed.
