Law Commission is reviewing the law regarding NRI grooms
NRI grooms who run away from Indian brides are no longer in good shape. The Law Commission of India is reviewing how to deal with such grooms and strengthen the legal framework to protect NRI marriages. It is being told that the Law Commission had received a recommendation in this regard from the Ministry of External Affairs, after which it has started the review.
The Law Commission is at an initial stage examining the loopholes in the law that lead to problems in NRI marriages such as grooms abandoning brides and married women being left with no legal recourse. At present there is no strict law for NRI marriages in India. In such a situation, foreign grooms take advantage of this and run away after the marriage.

To begin with, the Commission is examining a structural framework looking at its various aspects and considering what are the reasons and remedies for people leaving their partners due to gaps in the legal framework. Or can it happen?
Women will get security due to the steps of Law Commission
This step of the Law Commission will especially provide protection to those women who are abandoned by NRI grooms after marriage, especially in states like Punjab and run away abroad and then the woman is forced to live alone. Will also look into the 2019 Bill on Registration and Foreign Marriage Act. Along with this, international public law and private laws will also be considered.
The shortcomings of the law will be removed
It is important for the Commission to ensure that legal loopholes that benefit violators are appropriately addressed. Also how various procedural requirements of the court can be fulfilled. In fact, many such cases have come to light in India so far in which first a foreign citizen marries an Indian girl and then after living together for some time, he leaves his wife in India and goes crazy.
