Virendra Shukla has got this bail in the case of the death of four farmers and a journalist, who were allegedly crushed to death by a convoy of vehicles.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has named Shukla in the charge sheet accusing him of destruction of evidence.
Senior Prosecution Officer SP Yadav told on Tuesday that the SIT had filed the charge sheet last week, following which the notice was issued to Virendra Shukla, the Indian Express reported. On 10 January, Palliya Block Pramukh Shukla surrendered before the local court, which granted him bail.
Shukla is among 14 people named by the SIT in its chargesheet and is the first and only person to get bail in the case. Among the accused are Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra.
According to Yadav, a case has been registered against Shukla under section 201 (disappearance of evidence of offense or giving information to accused) of the IPC. Others face various charges like murder, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy.
The SIT has said that during investigation, it came across a convoy of three SUVs, including a Mahindra Thar of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, which passed over a group of farmers who had gathered at Tikoniya crossing in the district. The driver of the third SUV Mahindra Scorpio had fled with the vehicle. According to the SIT, the third SUV belonged to Shukla and he hid it after the incident. The vehicle is now in the possession of the investigating agency.

Three people, including two BJP workers, were lynched by a mob after a group of protesting farmers were crushed by an SUV convoy.
They were identified as BJP workers – Shubham Mishra (26 years) and Shyam Sundar (40 years) and Hariom Mishra (35 years), the driver of the SUV of the Union Minister of State.
Two FIRs were registered in this regard at Tikunia police station.
