New Delhi: According to the fourth health index of NITI Aayog, among the large states, Kerala has once again topped the health sector on all parameters, while Uttar Pradesh is at the bottom. The period 2019-20 (reference year) has been taken into account in the fourth health index.
The report prepared by the government think tank NITI Aayog states that Tamil Nadu and Telangana rank second and third respectively on health parameters.
The report said that Uttar Pradesh has achieved the highest position in incremental performance. According to the report, Uttar Pradesh has registered the highest growth change from the base year (2018-19) to the reference year (2019-20).
Among the smaller states, Mizoram topped the list, while among the union territories, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir ranked lowest on all parameters in health and topped in growth performance.
The report said that in the fourth consecutive index, Kerala’s performance on all parameters has been the best. According to the report, Telangana performed well on all parameters and growth and secured the third position in both.

In the case of smaller states, Mizoram and Tripura recorded strong overall performance as well as showed improvement in growth related performance, the report said.
As per the report, the Health Index is a comparative composite score consisting of 24 indicators covering key aspects of health performance. The health index includes selected indicators of three areas โ health outcomes, governance and information, and key inputs and processes.
