New Delhi: India ranks 10th among the most tweeting countries about gaming in 2021. According to micro-blogging site Twitter, there were more than 2.4 billion tweets globally about gaming, an increase of 14 percent year over year and more than a 10-fold increase from 2017.
“Gamers tweet about their favorite games in India while paying attention to the latest editions and releases, along with live streams and scores,” the company said in a statement.
“Last year, we saw Indians joining a new game- Genshin Impact, which was released in late 2020 but has become a Twitter-favourite in no time,” the company said.
After Genshin Impact, the most talked about games in India in 2021 were Minecraft, PUBG, Roblox, Fortnite etc.
“Indian gaming enthusiasts not only talk about sports, but also follow ongoing leagues, tournaments and esports events,” the company said.
“They are always charged and tweeted in support of their favorite teams, and G2 Esports shines as India’s favorite esports team,” he added.
The company said that gamers on Twitter are also engaging through live audio conversations on the Twitter space.
The first three places have been taken by Japan, the US and South Korea, respectively.
