New Delhi: India’s players have made a mark in the India Open Super 500 badminton tournament. Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen has won the Indian Open Singles title. In the final, he defeated champion player Loh Keen Yew 24-22, 21-17. Loh Keen Yu from Singapore is the world champion player. It took 54 minutes for Lakshya Sen to win this match. On the other hand, Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the title by defeating three-time champion Indonesian pair in the men’s doubles final.
The number one Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Indonesia’s Mohammad Ehsan and Hendra Setiawan in the men’s doubles final. The Indian pair defeated the top seeded Indonesian pair 21-16, 26-24 in a match that lasted 43 minutes. Satwik and Chirag have only their second win in their five matches against the Indonesian pair. This is only the second Super-500 tournament title for the Indian pair.
In the semi-finals, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated the French pair of William Villager and Fabian Delereau 21-10, 21-18 to enter the final. In other matches, Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai Terry and Tan Wei Han won the mixed doubles title. In the final, the Singaporean pair defeated Chen Tang Jie and Pek Yen Wei of Malaysia 21-15, 21-18.
