Poison in the climate of Delhi
Even before Diwali, the air quality in Delhi has become poisonous and the Air Quality Index has crossed 500. Delhi government has taken several steps to improve the air quality index, including implementation of I-Even, ban on construction, ban on app-based taxis. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain right now and due to slow wind speed, Delhi government will present a plan in front of the Supreme Court for artificial rain to remove smog.
Four days ago, the pollution level in Delhi was recorded at 999 in Ashok Vihar area. Although there is some relief today, there are chances of it increasing again due to burning of stubble in nearby states and bursting of firecrackers on Diwali. Due to smog, people are facing difficulty in breathing, burning sensation in eyes, sore throat or swelling and cold.

Children and the elderly are suffering the most from pollution. Keeping this in view, the Delhi government has declared a holiday on November 18, so that children can stay at home and be protected from diseases. Such fine particles are dissolved in the air, which are entering our body as soon as we breathe and due to this increasing pollution of the people of Delhi-NCR, eyes are turning red and lungs are turning black. There are five big reasons for this.
- First: Dust and soil present in the environment
- Second: Smoke from petrol and diesel vehicles
- third: Soil and dust dissolved in air due to construction
- Fourth: The smoke coming out of stubble after burning it.
- Fifth: Smoke coming out of factories.
If we want to stop pollution in Delhi-NCR, we will have to find a solution to this problem, but the sad thing is that we do not have any system that can control it.
Elderly and children are more worried
Due to increasing pollution, a huge crowd of patients can be seen in Delhi’s largest hospital, Lok Nayak Jaiprakash, in which most of the cases are related to difficulty in breathing or sore throat. Asthma patients and children are facing the most problems. The hospital administration also says that since the increase in pollution, there has been a 15 to 20 percent increase in OPD. Along with this, in view of pollution, many hospitals of Delhi have also prepared new OPDs, in which RLMs treat patients suffering from problems due to pollution every Monday.
In view of this pollution, doctors have advised the elderly and children to come out of the house only if absolutely necessary. Dr. Randeep Guleria, former director of Delhi AIIMS, says that pollution is very dangerous even for people who do not have any disease. The cocktail of climate change and pollution has increased this further. The poisonous breath that people are breathing due to pollution will first go into the lungs, then into the blood and from there to other parts of the body, due to which every organ is affected.
Cases of cough and cold increased in Delhi
Randeep Guleria says that due to this, the cases of people suffering from difficulty in breathing, cough and cold have increased significantly. All these diseases have been going on for so long that even common medicines are not working. Even after taking medicines, some patients have to be admitted to hospitals. People with heart problems and immunity should not go out of the house without a mask. He told that there is some data which shows that air purifiers can help to some extent but it is not very strong and it still needs study. This is not expected to be of much benefit, because even with the doors and windows open, pollution easily enters the house.
Avoid morning walk
To get rid of the disease, people are advised to take a morning walk, but the way the air of Delhi-NCR has become poisoned and it is becoming a gas chamber. In view of this, doctors are also advising people not to go out for morning walks. Doctors say that people who take morning walks to maintain their health breathe more heavily and this can increase their problems. People should exercise indoors to keep themselves fit. If you have to go out, use a mask and if you have even the slightest problem, consult a doctor.
Work will have to be done on war footing
Environmental experts say that even spraying water is not going to be a solution and pollution is going to be more dangerous than dangerous. Central Government, Haryana Government, Punjab Government and Delhi Government should all form emergency response teams, this cannot be reduced by just sprinkling water. For this, there is a need to work on war footing, the government will have to take immediate steps to stop the burning of stubble in Punjab and Haryana. The kind of air quality crisis that exists across North India and especially in Delhi-NCR is going to become even more dangerous in the future.
Due to increasing pollution in Delhi, not only humans but also animals are suffering and to save the animals and birds in the National Zoology Park, water sprinkling and multivitamins are being used. There is a bird hospital in Chandni Chowk, Delhi and sick birds and other birds are being brought here. It was told by the hospital that like humans, birds are also suffering from pollution, most of the pigeons and chickens are being brought here for treatment.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of relief from pollution in the coming time and there is no possibility of rain in Delhi NCR. However, the Meteorological Department has said that around November 21, more than 40 percent clouds will accumulate in the sky of Delhi and that is why the Kejriwal government is considering making artificial rain during this period. But the final decision on this has to be taken by the Supreme Court.

What do common people say?
People living in Delhi are forced to live with pollution even if they want to. They say that living with this pollution has now become a tradition. Be it Congress, BJP or Aam Aadmi Party, no one has made any management regarding pollution. Everyone knows that pollution increases in November-December, it becomes more due to stubble burning, but no one takes any solution. The President, Prime Minister and many ministers live in Delhi, but no arrangements are made for the stay of so many VIPs here. There is no special arrangement even in the hospital for poor people. Due to increasing pollution, visibility is also very low and people have to face difficulty in driving on the road.
