Dehradun: Police on Thursday arrested Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and produced two other accused, Yeti Narasimhanand and Sadhvi Annapurna, in connection with the alleged hate speech at ‘Dharma Sansad’ held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Notice to be issued.

Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar said that while Rizvi has been arrested, notices have been sent to Yeti Narasimhanand and Sadhvi Annapurna to appear before them under Section 41 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
According to NDTV, in a video of Tyagi’s arrest, Narasimhanand can be seen threatening the police and asking why Tyagi is being arrested.

Yeti Narasimhananda had organized the Dharma Sansad in Haridwar while Sadhvi Annapurna participated as a speaker at the event, where provocative speeches were allegedly made against Muslims.
Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Yogendra Rawat said that Rizvi was arrested from the Narsan border of Roorkee.
The name of 52-year-old Lucknow resident Wasim Rizvi, who became Jitendra Narayan Tyagi after converting to Hinduism a few months ago, is among more than 10 people against whom an FIR was registered in the case. Rizvi has been the head of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board.
This is the first arrest in the case of making inflammatory speeches against Muslims in the Parliament of Religions held in Haridwar from December 17 to 19.
When asked whether there would be more arrests in this case, the police officer said that it would depend on further investigation.
According to the Indian Express, Narasimhanand and Tyagi were on their way to Haridwar from Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad at the time of their arrest.
Narasimhanand told the Indian Express, ‘They have arrested Jitendra Narayan Tyagi. This is injustice and I have sat on a dharna at Sarvanand Ghat in Haridwar against this injustice. Until they are released, I will not eat or drink water.’
He said, ‘I was with Tyagi when he was arrested, but the police did not take me away. He was arrested because he was once a Muslim and had converted to Hinduism. This is so that no other Muslim converts to Hinduism.’
Narasimhanand claimed that he had offered to be arrested as he was also an accused.
“We will also adopt legal means to get Tyagi out of jail,” he said. If this step is taken because of the Supreme Court, then we will look into that too. If needed, we will also stage a sit-in in front of the Supreme Court.
Sources close to Narasimhanand claimed that some other people named in the FIR were also present with him. At the same time, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi tweeted after his arrest and said, ‘I have been arrested like a terrorist.’

Two FIRs have been registered against 15 people in the case. The first FIR was registered in this regard on 23 December 2021 after the controversy over the video of the event went viral, in which only Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi was named. Before leaving Islam and adopting Hinduism, Tyagi’s name was Wasim Rizvi.
The names of Swami Dharamdas and Sadhvi Annapurna alias Pooja Shakun Pandey were added to the FIR on 25 December 2021. Pooja Shakun Pandey is the Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara and General Secretary of Hindu Mahasabha.
After this, on January 1, the names of Yeti Narasimhanand and Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj of Roorkee were included in this FIR.
On January 2, the state’s Director General of Police had also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. After that, on January 3, a second FIR was registered against 10 people in connection with the Parliament of Religions.
In the second FIR, the organizers of the event, Yeti Narasimhanand Giri, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi (earlier known as Wasim Rizvi), Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj, Dharamdas, Parmanand, Sadhvi Annapurna, Anand Swaroop, Ashwini Upadhyay, Suresh Chavan and Prabodhanand Giri were named. Has been done.
