Hyderabad: Hail and heavy rains lashed parts of Telangana on Thursday. Meteorological Department officials gave this information. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Warangal Rural, Mahabubabad, Suryapet and Nagarkurnool districts. Hailstorm also occurred at different places in Nalgonda, Suyarpet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Mahabubabad districts.
It also rained in parts of Greater Hyderabad on Thursday morning. Areas like Alwal, Rajendranagar, Chilkalguda, Maredpally, Abid, Sultan Bazar, Himayat Nagar, Basheerbagh, Koti, Liberty, Khairatabad received rain, flooding the roads at some places.
Unseasonal rains have been lashing some parts of the state for the last two-three days. The Hyderabad Meteorological Center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has attributed the unseasonal rains to a trough moving from North Interior Karnataka to North Odisha.
A trough is now extending from South Interior Karnataka to South Chhattisgarh at 0.9 km above sea level from North Interior Karnataka to North Interior Odisha.
Parvatgiri in Warangal Rural district has recorded the highest rainfall of 10 cm during the last 24 hours. Nuthankal in Suyarpet recorded 8 cm of rain, Nagarkurnool at Kollapur 7 cm and Garla in Mahabubabad district recorded 7 cm of rain.
During the last two days, heavy rains and hailstorms have damaged crops and houses in some parts of the state. Electric poles were also uprooted at some places due to the strong wind.
The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for the next three days including Thursday. He said that hailstorm and heavy rain are very likely at isolated places in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool districts.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely at isolated places in some districts. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers at isolated places in some districts on Friday and at isolated places in some districts on Saturday.
For Hyderabad and its adjoining areas, the Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers in some parts of the city. It is very likely to be an East/Southeasterly wind speed with wind speed around 06-10 kmph.
