Ahmedabad, 12 January 2022: Gyanodaya Godda Project, an online initiative to transform education in Godda district of Jharkhand, has bagged the National e-Governance Award. Godda SDO Rituraj and the project team of Adani CSR received trophy, citation and a check of Rs 1 lakh at the 24th National e-Governance Conference in Hyderabad. The award ceremony was presided over by the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh and Telangana Urban Development Minister K. T. Rama Rao.
The award recognizes innovation in education during the COVID pandemic. It is worth mentioning that Adani Foundation has been providing quality education to the students through Smart SEZs under the guidance of District Administration. The innovative experiment of keeping children educationally engaged through Gyanodaya App and mobile learning van Gyanodaya Rath proved to be very effective during the COVID pandemic.
Gyanodaya is an online education initiative by Adani Foundation, which helps rural students of Godda district of Jharkhand to learn more efficiently. In collaboration with Godda District Administration and Ecovation Pvt Ltd, it is providing a state-of-the-art interactive curriculum through smart classrooms, advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, i.e., quality education.
Enlightenment has reduced dropout rates, accelerated growth in attendance rates, and produced concrete results for student performance in examinations. The project, which started in 2018, has reached 70,000 students in 276 schools in the district. In the 2019-20 class 10th board exams, Godda district’s pass percentage reached 75%, which is a huge improvement as compared to 66% in 2018-19 and 50% in 2017-18. This initiative has also trained teachers of 330 schools to prepare them for 2021-22. Considering the academic results achieved by the students in this district, the state government has decided to implement the Gyanodaya model across the state.
