Schlas Elmau: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Schloss Elmau, where he arrived to attend the G7 summit. In a video shared by news agency ANI, the Prime Minister is meeting with his German counterpart.
The prime minister is attending the G7 summit, in which leaders of the world’s seven richest economies will discuss key global issues, including Ukraine’s war, food security and counter-terrorism.
PM tweeted, ‘I will be attending the G-7 summit today in which we will discuss various important global issues.’ The G7 is an intergovernmental political grouping consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Apart from India, Germany has also invited Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa as guests to recognize the democracies of the Global South as its partners.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi addressed the overseas Indians at the Audi Dome Stadium in Munich. During his speech, Modi talked about the Emergency, which was imposed 47 years ago. “The democracy which is our pride, which is in the DNA of every Indian, an attempt was made to hold that democracy hostage 47 years ago by crushing it,” he said.
After his two-day visit to Germany, the Prime Minister will leave for the United Arab Emirates. There he will condole the death of former Gulf President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Prime Minister had told through his tweet that on his way back to India, he would visit the United Arab Emirates on June 28.
