BESCOM has imposed a fine of Rs 68,526 on former Karnataka Chief Minister AD Kumaraswamy for illegal connection of electricity from a street lamp pole to light his residence on the occasion of Diwali. The fine amount was paid by former Chief Minister and state unit president of Janata Dal (Secular) HD Kumaraswamy. He said that he was not at home when the house was being decorated on the occasion of Diwali. At that time he was in Ramnagar district. The electrician has done this work without their knowledge.
Kumaraswamy said that in the FIR lodged, it has been said that he had personally witnessed electricity theft, but this is not true. This claim is completely false and there are many flaws in the FIR.
