New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched a scathing attack on the previous UPA government on the Dewas-Antrix issue. Quoting the Supreme Court, Sitharaman said- I want to talk about the Supreme Court’s decision on the Dewas-Antrix issue. The Supreme Court has given a comprehensive order. The deal was canceled by the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) in 2011. It was a fraud deal.
Sitharaman further added, ‘When it was quashed in 2011, Dewas went to international arbitration. Government of India did not appoint for arbitration, was asked for appointment for arbitration within 21 days, but the government did not make the appointment.‘
Not only this, while besieging the Congress-led UPA, Minister Sitharaman also said that- The Supreme Court order shows how the UPA government was indulging in wrongdoing. The Antrix-Devas deal was against national security. Now the Congress party should tell how such fraud was done with the people of India.
Apart from this, Nirmala Sitharaman accused the Congress and said that ‘Selling primary wavelength, satellite or spectrum bands to private parties and earning money from private parties has been the specialty of the Congress government.‘

A satellite deal was signed in 2005 between ISRO’s commercial arm Antrix and Bengaluru-based startup Devas Multimedia. But the controversial deal was later called off and a legal battle broke out between Antrix and Dewas. Now this decade-old legal battle came to an end on Monday (January 1, 2022) in the Supreme Court, which ordered the shutdown of the startup.
