Delhi University admission through CUCET: From now on, admission in Delhi University will be through Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET. Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh has informed that DU is ready to adopt this new mode of admission and will start this year by conducting DUCET/CUCET 2022. More details on the same will be released in due course.
CUCET is conducted by National Testing Agency, NTA and Ministry of Education. Before the declaration of CUCET, Delhi University used to take admission by releasing the merit list on the basis of marks obtained in class 12 board exam.
With the introduction of such a big announcement and change from this academic year, the VC of Delhi University has informed about this decision, aspirants will now be ready to prepare for an additional entrance exam after their board exams.
Before this confirmation, speculations were rife that DU may conduct its own entrance exam and it may be different from CUCET. Past reports in this regard suggest that the university held several meetings with the concerned authorities to pass a resolution to conduct an entrance test for admissions.
VC Yogesh Singh also told the media outlet that the people concerned are working on it. Once the basics are in place, a committee will be formed that will work on how to do it. This committee will also coordinate with NTA and Ministry of Education.
Delhi University is one of the most prestigious and sought-after institutions in the country. This year, there were more than 70,000 seats for admission in UG courses. This year also CUCET faced many administrative problems due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The third wave is almost approaching, due to which there is also a possibility of delay in this process.
