Aligarh Muslim University is again in controversy. History can be changed by one decision of the university. The sound of a big change has started being heard in this prestigious university of the country. However, in recent years, AMU campus has been in the news for religious slogans, protests and fights among students. In some cases, the influence of terrorist networks even reached here. Just a few weeks ago, a student was also arrested on charges of having links with ISIS. AMU campus has also been involved in political controversies. But the decision towards which the institute is moving can increase the prestige of AMU.
Aligarh Muslim University Court is meeting today. In this meeting, a decision is to be taken on three names for the new VC of the university. The Executive Council of Aligarh Muslim University has already prepared a panel of five people. Only one of them will get a chance to become Vice Chancellor. Aligarh Muslim University is the only university in the country, which selects its own Vice Chancellor. Unlike other universities, no search committee prepares a panel for VC.

Naima Gulrez’s name in VC race
Naima Gulrez’s name has also been selected for VC in the Executive Council meeting. She is the wife of Mohammad Gulrez, acting VC of Aligarh Muslim University. For the first time, the Executive Council has recommended the name of a woman for Vice Chancellor. But some people are creating controversy regarding her being the wife of the acting VC. His name may also be approved in the AMU court meeting today. There are 87 members in the court. Apart from ten MPs, names of some well-known people of the country are also included in these. The names of BJP’s Mahesh Sharma, Rajveer Singh, Congress’s Imran Pratapgarhi and BSP’s Kunwar Danish Ali are included in the list of MPs. Tariq Mansoor, former VC of Aligarh Muslim University, is now the national vice president of BJP. He is also a member of AMU court. Sources say that Mansoor also wants Naima Gulrez to become VC.
One allegation is that Tariq Mansoor will indirectly exercise the authority of VC in the name of Naima.
Name of Professor Faizan Mustafa also included
Professor Faizan Mustafa’s name is also leading in the race for VC of Aligarh Muslim University. The Executive Council of the university has voted in favor of Mustafa for VC. He has also been the Vice Chancellor of NALSAR in Hyderabad. He had opposed the uproar over the hijab of Muslim girls in Karnataka. Professor Mustafa had said that education is more important for Muslim girls than hijab. Muslim Maulana and Ulemas had opposed him a lot at that time. He is now the head of the law department of AMU.

Naima Gulrez comes from Pasmanda community.
Professor Naima Gulrez’s biggest strength is that she is a Muslim woman. She comes from Pasmanda community. PM Narendra Modi has been advocating for the betterment of this backward section among Muslims. It has been the Prime Minister’s wish that women should lead. Naima Gulrez fits this criteria. But this very strength is the reason for their opposition. People who think in the old way are not in favor of giving the command of AMU to a woman. The decision has to be taken by the President of the country. The President gives his consent to one of the panels sent by the Aligarh Muslim University Court. He can be the new VC of Aligarh Muslim University.
