Cape Town: South Africa captain Dean Elgar believes that India had expressed their displeasure over the DRS. He said, the team had expressed its displeasure over the stump mic. After Elgar was relieved lbw in the DRS review, Kohli and some other Indian players took to the stump mic to slam the South African broadcaster and SuperSport.
Umpire Erasmus had earlier given Elgar out, but ball-tracking techniques showed the ball was going over the stumps and the decision was overturned on review.
On the third day of the Third Test in Cape Town, Elgar reviewed Ravichandran Ashwin’s lbw decision in the fourth ball of the 21st over, chasing South Africa’s 212 runs.
Umpire Marais Erasmus called Elgar lbw off a ball that hit the knee in front of middle stump. While tracking the ball, the tracking technique showed that the ball had passed over the stumps, which overturned the decision.
The result was that the Indian team vented their anger through the mic of the stump. Although Elgar was later dismissed at the stumps by Jasprit Bumrah, South Africa needed just 111 runs to win on the fourth day, which they won on Friday.
Obviously the Indian team wanted to win the third Test and the team was under pressure. Things were not going their way, they tried to change the game for a long time, but the team did not manage to change. The team needed a few more runs to win, which could not be made.
After losing the first Test by 113 runs at Centurion, South Africa returned in the next match to beat the Indian team in the series and went on to win two matches in the three-match series. Elgar said after the seven-wicket win in Johannesburg that he had negotiated a good performance with Kagiso Rabada, which he succeeded.
When asked more about the conversation, Elgar declined to elaborate. “I can’t comment on that because what happens in the team stays within the team. Basically, after losing the first Test, we knew the players would change their game and that’s what happened.”

Speaking about the nature of interactions with Rabada and other players in the team, Elgar said, “You should treat each and every player with mutual respect within the team.”
He said, “I think I want to connect with them in a very good way, a special way where people think Elgar is doing it for the right reasons. You need to respect each other no matter what. age and how long you’ve been playing the sport.”
