IND Vs SA: Team India was reduced to 223 runs on the first day of Cape Town match against South Africa. In reply, the start of South Africa’s first innings was also spoiled by the Indian bowlers. Bumrah gave a big blow to the opposition team by dismissing the player who had more faith in South Africa’s batting. By the end of the first day’s play, the hosts scored 17 runs for the loss of one wicket. Elgar, who won the second Test, started off on strategy, but the Proteas lost the crucial wicket of captain Dean Elgar.
Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah did not give captain Dean Elgar a chance to settle at the crease. On the fourth ball of the fifth over, Bumrah forced the captain to play a shot at him. He tried to cut into the slips with light hands, where Cheteshwar Pujara made a ticket to the pavilion from there. The delivery was such that Elgar was completely shocked.
Elgar could only manage three runs in 16 balls. His opening partner Aiden Markram remained unbeaten and scored eight runs off 20 balls. Meanwhile, nightwatchman Keshav Maharaj also did not lose his wicket and added six runs to the scoreboard.
On the first day, India’s captain Virat Kohli scored 79 runs in 201 balls to put Team India in a strong position. His innings included 12 fours and a six. Pujara is among the second highest run-scorers from Team India. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 43 runs in 77 balls.
