There has once again been a controversy regarding hijab in Karnataka. Here, a case of Hindu girl students being forced to remove their Mangalsutra during the Public Service Commission examination has come to light. It is alleged that before going to the examination centre, the girl students were not only made to remove their mangalsutra but were also ordered to remove all the jewellery, including their neck chain, toe rings, earrings etc.
This behavior towards Hindu girl students has now gained momentum. BJP MLA Basanagouda Yatnal has expressed his displeasure in this matter. He has questioned the behavior meted out to the girl students, whether this step is only for Hindus, whether these rules have been made only for Hindus.
Mangalsutra made to be removed from Hindu girl students
Along with this, the girl students who were asked to remove the mangalsutra and all the jewellery, said that Muslim girl students had also come to the examination center to take the examination, who were wearing hijab. The officials also examined those girl students and allowed them to go inside. The girl students say that none of them were asked to take off anything.

Muslim girl students got permission with hijab
Hindu girl students say that in Hindu culture the Mangalsutra is not removed, we remove it from our neck only when necessary. The students said that they had to remove their mangalsutra and toe rings to appear in the exam. The students said that just as Muslim students were allowed to go inside wearing hijab after checking, in the same way they should also be allowed to go inside.
The candidate was caught copying
It is being told that the administration has taken this step to stop cheating during the examination. Actually, the common entrance examination was held in Karnataka on 4th November. During this time some students were caught cheating. Students were using Bluetooth devices in the examination hall.

There has been an uproar regarding hijab
Let us tell you that just a few days ago, the Karnataka government had given permission to girl students to appear in competitive examinations wearing hijab. It is noteworthy that there has been a lot of uproar regarding hijab in Karnataka. In 2022, the administration had banned girl students wearing hijab in PU Government College in Udupi district, due to which there were huge protests.
