Water cannon used on Anganwadi maid who came out to surround Bihar Assembly
About 10 thousand Anganwadi workers of Bihar are on indefinite strike since September 29. On Tuesday, she came out to surround the Bihar Assembly demanding the status of a government employee and salary instead of honorarium. The police used water cannon to remove the maids. After which many Anganwadi workers suffered serious injuries. The police have taken him to the hospital for treatment.
Today is the second day of the winter session of Bihar Assembly. There is a complete ban on protests around the Assembly during the session and more than 800 soldiers have been deployed here. Besides, 70 magistrates and a large number of police officers have also been deployed.
Demonstration regarding five point demand
Anganwadi workers are protesting with five-point demands. Their demands are – status of government employee, salary in place of honorarium, retirement pension and if a maid dies while on-duty, then a job should be given to her family member in her place. Last week too, about two thousand maids had demonstrated at Dak Bungalow intersection in Patna.
Anganwadi workers who came out to surround the assembly are accusing the government of breaking its promise. He said that at the time of elections, Tejashwi Yadav had promised to double his honorarium, but after forming the government, he has forgotten his promise. The maids said that now he will not be misled. Will fight for our rights. We will protest continuously to fulfill our demands. We will continue to protest like this until our demands are met.
