83 more shops will remain open 24 hours
To promote night life, economic activity and employment in Delhi, Kejriwal government has given permission to 83 shops and business establishments to open 24 hours. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal gave his approval to the proposal received from the Labor Department of Delhi. These business establishments belong to shop, commercial, restaurant, establishment, retail trade category, but the shop owner will have to strictly follow the provisions and rules given in the Delhi Shop Establishment Act 1954.
Delhi government claims that these shops will also be monitored so that if anyone violates the rules, action can be taken against him. The 24-hour operation of these business establishments will not only boost the economy but will also create new employment opportunities for the youth. Now after getting the approval of the proposal from the Lieutenant Governor, these shops will be able to operate 24 hours.

Under the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act 1954, 122 people willing to operate shops 24 hours had applied online to the Labor Department of Delhi. These applications and documents were examined by the Labor Department, in which it was found that out of 122 applications, there were deficiencies in 29 applications. On this basis these applications were not considered. Whereas as per the rules of Delhi Shop and Establishment Act 1954, all the necessary documents of 83 application forms were found correct. Therefore, the applications of these business establishments have been approved.
Female employees are not allowed to work at night
Owners of business establishments will have to strictly follow the provisions given in Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Delhi Shop Establishments Act 1954. For example, female employees will not be allowed to work in any establishment during the summer season from 9 pm to 7 am and during the winter season from 8 pm to 8 am.
The rules will have to be strictly followed
Shops will have to open and close within the stipulated time. If this is violated the shop may be closed. If customers are waiting, there will be 15 minutes extra time to open the shop. Different areas may have different timings for opening or closing shops and owners will have to follow them.
635 shops-commercial establishments allowed to operate 24 hours
In the last few years, there has been an increase in the number of people seeking permission to operate 24-hour shops and business establishments within Delhi. In the last few years, the Chief Minister has given permission to 635 shops and business establishments to operate 24 hours. Earlier, in August, 29 shops and business establishments were given permission, after which their number increased to 552. Now after getting permission for 83 more shops, their number has increased to 635. On the other hand, in the span of 68 years from 1954 to 2022, only 269 shops and establishments were allowed to operate 24 hours.
