New Delhi: Delhi University, one of the largest universities in the country, has been lagging behind in several national and international rankings, including the QS London ranking, due to its poor student-teacher ratio. In order to improve the teaching system, Delhi University has now approved the permanent appointment of 635 posts of Associate Professor and Professor. In fact, the Ministry of Education and the UGC also want Delhi University to remove its shortcomings in a time bound manner.
Delhi University of Delhi has issued an advertisement regarding the permanent appointment of 635 Associate Professor and Professor posts in the various departments concerned. According to the advertisement, the last date to apply for these posts is 7 February 2022. Along with this, it has also been written that candidates can apply for two weeks after the publication of the advertisement in the employment newspaper. Earlier, the university had advertised 251 posts of assistant professors in the administration departments.
Associate Professor has the most in these departments, Law Faculty-95, Physics-22, Management Studies-20, Chemistry-19, Mathematics-18, Political Science-17, Philosophy-15, Sanskrit-13, Education-13, There are Economics-12, English-11, Electronic Science-10, MIL-09 and Psychology-09 posts.
Similarly, Advertisement of Professor’s Law Faculty-33 posts, Management Studies-12, Economics-10, Education-09, Chemistry-09, Botany-8, Physics-07, Mathematics-06, Psychology-06, Sociology-05 posts. has been issued.
There is an atmosphere of happiness among the teachers teaching in various departments and colleges on the removal of these posts. They have been waiting for a permanent appointment for a long time. Let us inform that even before this, the university administration has issued an advertisement to fill these posts twice, but after appointment in some departments, it was stopped and only the promotion work continued.
Dr. Hansraj Suman, Chairman, Forum of Academics for Social Justice, has demanded from the University of Delhi that these posts should be appointed before the start of the upcoming academic session. On the other hand, concerns have been expressed over not being given backlog on these posts.
Dr. Suman has told that the delegation of the Forum had met the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Yogesh Singh, regarding the demand for permanent appointment to these posts and to fill the backlog posts.
Professor Singh was told that the university administration has issued advertisements twice to fill the vacant posts of teachers in departments and colleges, but was stopped after making appointments in some departments. He had said that for a long time, advertisements for the appointments of 5000 teachers in colleges would also be issued soon.
To fill these posts, first the vacant posts of principals will be filled by permanent principals, after that advertisements for the posts of assistant professors will be issued in colleges.
Earlier, Delhi University had issued an advertisement to fill 251 posts of Assistant Professor. In fact, the university has issued advertisements many times to fill these posts. Last year, appointments were made to the posts of assistant professors in some departments, followed by promotion of college teachers, which is still going on. The teachers of Delhi University have expressed the hope that now the filling of these posts can start in March-April.
