Television was invented by John Logie Baird, a Scottish engineer. It was invented in the year 1924. After this, in the year 1927, the first working television was produced by Farnsworth. It was presented to the press on 01 September 1928. Color television was invented by John Logie Baird in the year 1928. Public broadcasting started in the year 1940.

TV came to India almost 3 decades after the invention of TV. Television was started in the year 1959 on 15 September in New Delhi with the help of UNESCO. TV was started under All India Radio. The first auditorium of TV was built in Akashvani Bhawan. It was inaugurated by President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The first color broadcast of television in India took place on 15 August 1982 with Indira Gandhi’s speech. After this, serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata started in the nineties.
