In this election, other parties including Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party have expressed more trust on crorepati candidates. According to ADR report, there are 73 candidates contesting in Gujarat elections whose assets are more than Rs 5 crore. At the same time, 77 such candidates are also contesting, whose assets are between two and five crores. This time in the first phase of Gujarat elections, out of 788 candidates, 211 are crorepati candidates. Whereas, in the 2017 elections, out of 923 candidates, 198 crorepati candidates contested. According to the ADR report, this time the average assets of each candidate contesting in the first phase has been estimated at Rs 2.88 crore. And in 2017, the average asset per candidate was pegged at Rs 2.16 crore. In the 2017 elections, BJP fielded 76 crorepati candidates. Whereas, Congress had given tickets to 60 and BTP to 2 crorepati candidates. In this election, BJP has fielded 79 candidates whose assets are more than Rs 1 crore. At the same time, Congress has given tickets to 65 such candidates and Aam Aadmi Party to 33 such candidates in this election.
