Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik Not anymore. He breathed his last at the age of 78. his life he Hindi K spent as a soldier, journalist and political analyst. He was still associated with several media organizations as a freelance columnist. He was the first Indian journalist who interviewed terrorist Hafiz Saeed, the debate on this increased so much that in 2014 the matter was raised in Parliament. He was even accused of treason. However, Vaidik, known for his outspokenness, had given a controversial statement on the Parliament as well.
This is not the first time that there has been a discussion about Ved Pratap Vaidik in the Parliament. About 47 years before this, the name of Dr. Vaidik was echoed in the Parliament. At that time he was a PhD researcher whose stubbornness had become a major issue of the country. This was the insistence on submitting thesis ,. Because of this stubbornness of his, Dr. Vaidik had become the national symbol of Hindi struggle.

This incident happened in the year 1965-1967, at that time Dr. Vaidik was doing PhD in International Politics from JNU’s School of International Studies. According to Dr. Vaidik’s website, he wrote his thesis ,. When it came to submit it, the professors refused to submit it. When Dr. Vaidik insisted, he was expelled. A condition has been laid by the university administration that unless the thesis is written in English, neither it will be submitted nor the expulsion will be withdrawn.

Dr. Vaidik remained adamant on his insistence, he agitated against the university administration. The matter caught fire and it became a national issue. Politicians like Acharya Kripalani, Dr. Rammanohar Lohia, Madhu Limaye, Guru Golwalkar, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deendayal Upadhyay, Chandrashekhar supported him. Writers like Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Dr. Dharamveer Bharti, Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan also came in support of Vaidik, and the then PM Indira Gandhi also supported Dr. Vaidik. Ultimately, the university administration had to bow down to his insistence and had to submit theses , only. This was the first time that a research paper in a language other than English was accepted.

Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik, rich in unique personality, was born on 30 December 1944 in Indore. He always topped in studies. During his PhD research, he also went to study at Columbia University in New York, School of Oriental in Moscow, London, Kabul University in Afghanistan. He wrote thousands of news, articles and editorials in the 60 years of his life given to journalism. Apart from national newspapers and magazines, he also continued to write for foreign newspapers and magazines.
