The incident of termite infestation in the notes kept in the locker has come to the fore in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Here termites ate the notes kept in a bag in the bank locker. Keeping money-jewellery in a bank locker is considered safe, but after this incident keeping money in a bank locker can be heavy.
Termites ate so much money
In Udaipur, currency notes worth Rs 2.5 lakh kept in the locker of a branch of Punjab National Bank were eaten by termites. When the locker owner opened his locker, he was surprised. Mahesh Singhvi had taken locker number 265 in the name of wife Sunita Mehta in Punjab National Bank located at Kalaji Goraji in Udaipur. In this, he kept two and a half lakh rupees in a bag. When he got the locker opened in May 2022, his money was safe at that time. When there was a need for money, Singhvi reached to open the locker on Thursday, but when the locker was opened, he lost his senses.

Mahesh Singhvi says that when he got the locker opened, he saw that the bundle of notes had become garbage. She had become like powder. The 500-500 notes kept in the bag were eaten by termites. Seeing this, he created a ruckus in the bank branch. After this the locker owner Sunita Mehta complained about this to the bank manager.
How did termites reach the locker?
After this incident came to light, there is a possibility of termites in other lockers of the bank. If this happens, those who keep money in lockers can suffer a big loss. The bank manager says that he has informed the authorities about the incident. Bank officials are still unable to say anything about how termites got into the locker. Now we have to see the damage done to the customer. His questions are arising as to how the bank will compensate him. Whether the bank will compensate or not. It’s hard to say. At present the investigation is still going on.
