However, the priests and security guards with full promptness stopped those people from going inside the temple. During this there was a lot of dispute between the two sides.
It is being told that this incident is of May 13. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have expressed strong objection after this incident came to the fore. He has appealed to maintain law and order. Along with this, there has been talk of getting the matter investigated by the SIT. The special thing is that last year also people from other communities tried to enter this temple.
What is the importance of Trimbakeshwar temple
This Mahadev temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Trimbakeshwar temple is counted among the most sacred places in Hindu beliefs. It is a major pilgrimage center for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This mythological temple is situated at a distance of 30 kilometers from Nashik Airport in Maharashtra. The name of this village is Trimbak. It is here that the story of Ganga coming to earth in the form of Godavari has also been told. Here God is said to be an incarnation of the triad i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
When was the Trimbakeshwar temple of Nashik built?
After the attack of the Mughals, the credit for the restoration of this temple is given to the Peshwas. Balaji i.e. Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa, famous as the third Peshwa, built it between 1755 and 1786. Mythologically it is also said that the crown over the linga made of gold and precious stones was installed by the Pandavas of Mahabharata.
It is said that when this temple was being renovated in the seventeenth century, 16 lakh rupees were spent in this work. Trimbak is also known as the Tapobhoomi of Gautam Rishi.
This temple is a wonderful piece of architecture
The Trimbakeshwar temple is famous all over the world for its carvings on black stones and its magnificence. The entire temple is made of black stones. The square mandap and big doors seem to be the glory of the temple. There is a golden urn inside the temple and crowns studded with diamonds and other precious gems are placed near the Shivling. All these are of mythological importance.
Aurangzeb attacked Trimbakeshwar temple
The rulers of the Mughal period had destroyed the shrines of Hindu deities in many cities inside India, one of them was the Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik. Historian Jadunath Sarkar has mentioned this in his book History of Aurangzeb.
He has written that in 1690, the army of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb broke the Shivling inside the Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik. The temple was also badly damaged. And on top of it the dome of the mosque was made. Even Aurangzeb changed the new name of Nashik. But in 1751, the Marathas again occupied Nashik, then this temple was rebuilt.
