However, it has been announced by Japan that there will be a meeting outside the G-7, in which US President Joe Biden, PM Fumio Kishida of Japan, PM Anthony Albanese of Australia and PM Modi will discuss the issues of the quad.
What is quad?
Quad i.e. Quadrilateral Security Dialogue is a joint organization of four countries India, Australia, Japan and America. It started when the four countries started talks for cooperation on disaster relief efforts after the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. In 2007, Japan proposed the quad, it was also formed, but could not come into effect. This group came into effect after 2017. The objective of this group is to harmonize the interests of maritime security and trade. China is constantly opposing this group. That’s why it is also believed that the quad is a means of replying to China. Although the four countries that are members of this organization only call it an effort to protect the common interests of the Indo-Pacific region.
Significance of Quad for India
Quad is going to play a big role in keeping the Indian Pacific region independent. There is often tension between India and China regarding the border, in such a situation, the Quad is India’s biggest force to rein in China. In fact, if China ever does something that is not right from India’s point of view, then the Quad members can support India to counter China. India can also take advantage on the naval front and promote strategic research. During the Quad leaders’ summit hosted by the US President in 2021, all the Quad members took an oath of independent and inclusive efforts for the Indo-Pacific region.
Why China’s stomach ache?
China has the biggest problem with Quad, because this group gives the biggest blow to China’s expansionist policy. China’s biggest problem is with America, which is constantly interfering in the Indo-Pacific region. Many times China has also addressed this group as Asian NATO. America, Japan, India and Australia have been working on the problems of the countries of the Indo-Pacific region since coming together. This is the reason for China’s stomach ache. If these four countries firmly overcome all the problems in the Indian Pacific region and China’s supremacy will reduce.
