- Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Egypt is being seen as a game changer for bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi will visit the 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque here, which was restored with the help of the Dawoodi Bohra community. At the same time, PM Modi will also visit the Heliopolis War Cemetery to pay tribute to the Indian soldiers who died for Egypt during the First World War.
- PM Modi will hold discussions with a group of high-level ministers constituted by the President of Egypt. This group has been formed to improve relations with India. After this, PM Modi and President Al-Sisi will sit face to face and talk and sign several agreements.
- Egyptian Ambassador Wael Mohamed Awad Hamed has said that apart from co-production of military equipment, a dedicated slot for India within the Suez Canal Economic Zone will also be discussed in the meeting of the two countries. Apart from this, there is a possibility of Indian investment in green hydrogen and tourism. According to the information, during this visit, there can be four or five agreements on agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises, information technology, trade promotion and culture between the two heads.
- In January this year, when President al-Sisi was on a visit to India, he had agreed to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a strategic partnership. Regarding this visit of PM Modi, it is being said that India and Egypt are trying to strengthen all aspects of their relations. India has invited Egypt as a special guest at the G20 summit to be held in New Delhi in September.
- Last week, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued an official statement regarding PM Modi’s visit to Egypt. The Ministry of External Affairs had said- “The relations between India and Egypt are based on ancient trade and economic ties as well as deep cultural and people-to-people ties.” The special thing is that both the countries are serious about strengthening their relations.
