Supporters adopted after father’s death
Lokendra Singh’s father, born in Kalvi village of Nagaur district of Rajasthan, was a minister in former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar’s government and also close to him. After the untimely death of his father, Chandrashekhar’s supporters took Lokendra Singh Kalvi hand in hand. He studied at the Mayo College in Amjer, which has been a favorite institution of royal families for education. Very few people know that he was a basketball player. Kalvi, who had command over both Hindi and English languages, was well versed in shooting, it is another matter that he always got defeated in political shooting.
He contested elections many times, but the crowd of supporters could not be converted into votes. Kalvi contested the Lok Sabha elections from Nagaur and contested from Barmer in 1998 as a BJP candidate but was defeated.
First came from BJP to Congress then from Congress to BJP
Kalvi, who was associated with the BJP, started the reservation movement in 2003. Together with Rajput leaders, he formed the Social Justice Forum and started a campaign to get reservation for the upper castes. He started this campaign by saying, “Reservation for the neglected, protection for the reserved.”It was because of this campaign that there was a rift between him and the BJP and he left the party. Then joined the Congress, but soon returned to the BJP.
When the Rajput society itself criticized
Kalvi may have been left behind in politics, but he got recognition for his activism and outspokenness on the issues of Rajput society. He had said many times in his speeches, “We have got our heads chopped off, Master! History is written with blood. Many times he was in discussion on inflammatory issues and many times opposing films.
First campaigned against the film Jodhaa Akbar, which increased the scope of his supporters and later he became known across the country for opposing Padmavat, but there was a time when Rajput society itself criticized Kalvi.
According to a BBC report, After increasing activism on the issues of Rajputs, the BJP cut off the ticket of former Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh from Barmer and fielded him in the Lok Sabha elections. Kalvi kept silence in the whole matter. He was strongly criticized in the Rajput society on this matter. Jaswant Singh’s supporters said that Kalvi took part in the election campaign against Jaswant Singh. We cannot forget this.
But some such cases also came to the fore when he left the BJP and supported the royal family. When the dispute over property between the former royal family of Jaipur, Diya Kumari and the BJP government increased, she supported the former royal family.
Not only this, he had expressed his displeasure with the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan in the gangster Anandpal encounter case. Raising this matter, he had said that he would defeat the BJP and would not forgive the Rajput Samaj Party.
