Hindus could not ride horses, there was a ban on keeping weapons
Aurangzeb took over the Mughalia throne in 1658. After this, he became very famous for his religious policies. In 1688 he issued an order. It was said in this order that no Hindu can sit in the palanquin except the Rajputs. There was also a ban on horse riding for Hindus. The special thing is that Hindus could not even keep weapons. Aurangzeb’s orders have been stored in Jawabit-e-Alamgiri and Fatwa-e-Alamgiri.

Muhtassib used to keep watch
Whatever orders Aurangzeb used to follow, it was the responsibility of Muhatsib. According to the book History of Mughal India, Muhtsib meant such inspectors whose responsibility was to observe morality. These Muhatsib used to keep an eye on whether Shariat is being followed properly or not, they also had the responsibility of monitoring brothels or gambling houses.
Jizya tax was imposed on Hindus
Aurangzeb again imposed Jizya tax in 1679, the 22nd year of assuming the Mughalia throne. Action was taken for not doing so, although history has shown that this decision taken by Aurangzeb was not religious but political. Aurangzeb was severely criticized after this order. Hindus also opposed it, but every protest was suppressed. After many years, when the opposition started again, this order was banned in 1705.
Persian festival Nowruz was closed
Aurangzeb did not issue orders only for Hindus, but also banned the festival of Persian people, Nowruz. This festival is being celebrated as the Persian New Year, which is known as the festival of nature love. Aurangzeb had completely banned the celebration of this festival.
