Kedarnath Temple
Controversy has arisen over the gold coating on the walls in the sanctum sanctorum of Kedarnath temple. The senior priest of the temple has accused him of replacing the gold layer with a brass layer. However, the committee of the temple has called it complete nonsense. Politics has also started on this issue. Former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also tweeted in this regard.
Kedarnath Temple is one of the Char Dham, it is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state. The history of this holy place of Lord Shiva is very ancient. It is said that the temple was built by the Pandavas. The work of gold plating on the walls started here only last year. Let us understand what is the whole matter and when what important changes took place in Kedarnath temple.
what is the whole matter
In the Kedarnath temple, last year the work of plating gold on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum started. Earlier these walls were of silver. A businessman from Mumbai had donated 230 kg of gold for this work. Now temple priest Santosh Trivedi has accused the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee and the concerned authorities of a scam, claiming that the walls of the temple have been plated with gold by plating them with brass. However, BKTC has denied this claim and has claimed that the same donor had got the gold studded done in the Badrinath temple as well. This allegation is being leveled under a well thought out conspiracy.
The allegation of applying brass layers instead of gold layers in the Kedarnath temple is a very sensitive matter of criminal as well as playing with faith.
Layers of lies should be removed by conducting a high-level inquiry into this conspiracy. pic.twitter.com/bgZFUMu6IE

Kedarnath is mentioned in Mahabharata
The history of Kedarnath is very old, it is also mentioned in Mahabharata, it is claimed that the temple was built by the Pandavas. There is also a legend behind this, it is said that after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas went to Kedarghati to Lord Shankar to get rid of the sin of killing the Gotra brothers.
Bholenath took the form of a buffalo in order not to give darshan to the Pandavas and hid among the animals. To find them, Bhima took a huge form and set his feet on both sides of the valley. When Lord Shankar was recognized, he started merging into the earth, only then Bhima caught hold of his back. After this, Bholenath was pleased and appeared to the Pandavas. This back part of Lord Bholenath is worshiped in Kedarnath temple.
First Shankaracharya, then Raja Bhoj got the reconstruction done
Beautiful carvings done on wood and stones in Baba’s Dham in Kedarghati are said to be of Katyuri style, it is said that King Janmejaya of Pandava dynasty had completed the temple. After this it was rebuilt by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. In a copper plate of Raja Bhoj found from Gwalior, it has been claimed that the temple was also rebuilt by Raja Bhoj in the 10th century. However, Rahul Sankrityayan has claimed that the temple dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries.

There was devastation in 2013, this is how revival happened
Ten years ago today, on June 16, there was a great disaster in Kedarnath. Many villages and cities were destroyed due to the flood caused by cloudburst here. Thousands of people were swept away in this flood, the bodies of many of them could not be found till date. There was no damage to the temple in this flood, but everything around it was destroyed. After this its revival was one of the dream projects of PM Modi. After coming to power in 2014, this project was taken up first. Now Baba’s abode has again returned in its grand form.
