Whose government will be formed in Karnataka this time, the survey has increased the suspense on this question. In many surveys, the Congress party has been given an edge, while some surveys are telling a close fight. So what Karnataka I am going to lay the same political board once again which has been seen for the last 38 years? Will the trend continue or will there be some last minute miracle in favor of BJP?
If the survey is to be believed then the Congress party will win or no party will get majority to form the government. That is, both the facts and views are not positive for BJP. But BJP does not agree with the survey. According to the party leaders, the continuous road shows of PM Narendra Modi and the enthusiasm of the public during that time raise the hope of a different result. The party feels that this time a new record will be made.
No party came back to power after 1985
The political temperature of some states is a wonder in itself. The people there do not give a chance to the ruling party to form the government. The direction of anti-incumbency changes every five years. This trend has been going on in Karnataka since 1985. Earlier, only the Janata Party government had regained power.
Then Ramkrishna Hegde was handling the leadership of the Janata Party. As the first non-Congress government, he had a minority government in Karnataka from 1983 to 1985, supported from outside by the BJP, but despite a poor performance in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections, the Janata Party performed well in the 1985 assembly elections. And formed the government again.
BJP is hopeful that the trend will break
At present there is a BJP government in the state. To break the 38-year-old record, BJP has worked hard. BJP played many bets to win the election. By abolishing the 4 percent minority reservation, it was distributed to Vokkaliga and Lingayat community by 2-2 percent. So that he can get the votes of these two communities of the state.
Apart from this, for the last two months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a bumper gift of projects to the people of the state, which include projects like Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, IIT campus in Dharwad, Greenfield airport in Shivamogga and the largest railway platform in Hubli. . The pair of PM Modi and Amit Shah continuously campaigned in Karnataka and targeted the Congress party.
New possibilities for Congress in Karnataka
The Congress is upbeat with the survey figures. The election campaign of the Congress has also changed a lot in the last 30 years. It is understood that the interest of the Delhi high command in the politics of the state was not very serious. But this time the situation has changed. The image of Mallikarjun Kharge and his hold among the Dalit community of the state is considered very strong.
Many big leaders including Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka were fiercely attacking the BJP government of Bommai in the state. From not fulfilling the promises of the manifesto to the issues of corruption, he kept going among the public. From women voters to Muslim candidates, the Congress made a strategy to win.
On the other hand, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have an image of a strong leader in the state. This time he showed mutual solidarity and went among the public and pointed out the shortcomings of the BJP government. Siddaramaiah used to reach out to his community and group while Shivakumar among his community.
On whose head is the crown of victory in Karnataka?
The state assembly has 224 seats. 113 is needed for majority, but for a secure government, a party must have at least 120 seats here. The special thing is that Congress has crossed 120 here many times, but BJP’s best performance here has been 110 (in 2008) and 104 (in 2018).
Therefore, to gain power in the state both times, BJP had to resort to Operation Lotus. Ughar JDS’s HD Kumaraswamy has said after voting that there was no agreement with any of his parties.
