Fish is the queen of water… We all have heard this poem in our childhood, it is also true that there is no life of fish without water, but have you ever heard of such a fish which can fly like birds . Surely you must be shocked, but this is true. These fish living in water can fly at a speed of 70 km per hour, not a lot. But can’t go very far. Once in flight, these fish can only go up to 200 meters away. They have such wings that anyone would consider them to be a bird, but let us know how they fly. (Photo- oceanHealth)
You would be surprised to know, but currently there are more than 40 species of fish that can fly. They have both side wings which help them to fly. It balances itself with its tail fin. Their fins are like the rudder of a boat, which helps these fishes to fly as well as swim in the water. (Photo-Pixabay)
The length of these fish generally ranges from 17 to 30 cm. As their length increases, they become thinner. These fishes also have to avoid the predators flying above the water and also from the predatory fishes living inside the water. When these fish are in danger inside the water, they take flight and then come back to the water. (Photo-Pixabay)
These fish are like gliders. They pump water with the help of their tail to fly in the air and come out of the water. These fishes can go up to six meters above the water. Although they cannot swim very far. They have to come back in the water after flying for 200 meters. However, after a dive, they can fly back again. (Photo-Pixabay)
The kickstart from the water enables these fish to reach speeds of up to 70 kmph. After reaching the air, they spread their wings and start moving forward. To return to the water, they have to retract their wings. They can fly back into the air after a dive. The special thing is that these fish can see properly both above and inside the water. Scientists researched these fishes and came to the conclusion that fishes can glide very well. However, when the temperature drops below 20 degrees, the muscles of the fish stop working and they lose the power to fly out of the water. (Photo-Pixabay)
