    Pan Card Fraud Case: If you want to avoid misuse of PAN card, then you should take care of some important things. Otherwise, you can get into big trouble. because at present banking fraud Despite being aware of the growing number of cybercriminals, many people fall prey to cyber criminals in one way or the other. In a new incident of cybercrime, a group of fraudsters allegedly obtained PAN details of several Bollywood actors and cricketers from GST identification numbers, which are available online, and credit in their names from Pune-based fintech startup ‘One Card’. cards received. These celebrities include Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Madhuri Dixit, Emraan Hashmi and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

    In this matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shahdara Rohit Meena says that the matter is under investigation, so we cannot comment further on it. The fraud was discovered by the company later, but not before fraudsters used some of these cards to purchase products worth Rs 21.32 lakh. This immediately alerted the Delhi Police who swung into action and arrested five of them.

    According to Delhi Police sources, the five accused worked in close coordination to defraud the company in a most unusual way. The accused have been identified as Puneet, Mohammad Asif, Sunil Kumar, Pankaj Mishra and Vishwa Bhaskar Sharma. When he was interrogated after his arrest, he revealed his unique modus operandi. They used to get GST details of these celebrities from Google. They knew very well that the first two digits of GSTIN are the state code and the next 10 digits are the PAN.

    According to the source, the date of birth of celebrities is available on Google, so these two – PAN and date of birth – complete the PAN details. He fraudulently recreated the PAN card by pasting his photograph on it so that during video verification, his look matches with the photo available on the PAN/Aadhaar card. For example, Abhishek Bachchan’s PAN card had his PAN and date of birth, but had a photograph of one of the accused. He similarly forged his Aadhaar details. According to the PTI report, after getting this information, he applied for a credit card.

    CIBIL score of celebrities remains good

    During video verification, he was asked questions related to his financial activities, which he answered with ease as he had received all such details from CIBIL. The police further said that they knew that these celebrities could have a good CIBIL score, which would increase their chances of getting a credit card. Besides, they knew that the online verification system could not recognize Abhishek Bachchan as a film star. Hence the photograph of accused Pankaj Mishra along with PAN and Aadhaar details of Abhishek Bachchan works well for issuing a card.

    Misuse of PAN card a matter of concern

    Police say further investigation is on and it is suspected that they may have used similar modus operandi to obtain credit cards from other banks and financial institutions. Misuse of PAN card is becoming a matter of concern as most of us are unaware that it is being used for cyber frauds and threat of information sharing. Here are some steps to avoid misuse of PAN,

    keep these things in mind

    Avoid entering PAN card details everywhere.

    First make sure that you submit your PAN details to authentic companies only.

    If it is not a government order, then the person should de-link his Aadhaar card and bank accounts.

    Do not reveal your date of birth or full name on every online portal as it can be used to track your PAN details.
