Watching TV also increases depression
You must have heard this saying that the devil has an empty mind. Our elders always used to say that people who sit idle always do bad things for themselves and others. That is, sitting idle has always been considered bad. This not only has a bad effect on our physical health but sitting idle also spoils our mental health. But a recent study has revealed that sitting is not the same for every different task, that is, if you are sitting at a desk to work or to drive, then it is related to the time spent in front of the TV. It is completely different. Because in all these three situations the mind and body have been used in different ways. The risk of depression due to TV increases by 43 percent. As opposed to working at a desk or driving, sitting to watch TV increases the risk of depression by 43 percent. That is why it is always said that we should always be physically active to stay healthy. By being physically active, we have less risk of heart health, blood pressure and obesity.
Now through this research it has been proved that while sitting increases the risk of all these diseases, sitting idle and doing nothing also increases the risk of diseases like stress and depression. But as we mentioned above, all types of sitting are not the same.
Obesity also causes depression
In this study conducted in UK, it was found that in contrast to sitting mentally active, the risk of depression in people is 43 percent higher by watching TV. If you sit and are mentally active then it causes less harm to you. But if you do mentally inactive work like watching TV, then you may have more mental issues. Obesity can also cause depression in you, so being physically active is the guarantee of staying healthy.
