Professor at RP Center, AIIMS Dr. Bhawna Chawla According to the WHO, most children under the age of five are affected by retinoblastoma cancer. However, this disease makes only a small number of children victims. Every year around 1500 cases of this cancer are registered in the country. This disease occurs due to genetic reasons. Due to the lack of case work and lack of information about the symptoms, this disease cannot be identified.
Because of this, most of the cases come to the fore in the last stage. In such a situation, the eyes are removed to prevent cancer from spreading to other parts, due to which the light goes away. If the disease is identified in the beginning itself, then it can be treated. So far two children have been treated through this.
