New Delhi: The third wave of the corona epidemic in the country and the new variant of the corona, Omicron, continues to wreak havoc. In view of the seriousness of the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states today. This meeting was organized through video conference.
In this meeting, aspects related to COVID-19 and vaccination have been reviewed. The Chief Ministers spoke to the Prime Minister about the situation with respect to the pandemic in their respective states, especially the Omicron variant which is spreading rapidly.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted about this meeting and wrote, “The central government is constantly monitoring the situation. We are also working with those states with a proactive and collective approach. We all have to be alert by taking all possible precautions. At the same time, the health infrastructure of the country is being continuously enhanced. The progress being made by our country on the vaccination front can be seen.
The Prime Minister further wrote – Vaccines and masks are among the strongest weapons against the epidemic. Since the pandemic has entered our lives, we have a better understanding of the virus and its mutations. We have to continue fighting this virus and at the same time keep the economic momentum that we have gathered.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country, the ongoing preparedness of health infrastructure, the status of the vaccination campaign in the country, the spread of Omicron. During this, he appealed to ensure adequate health infrastructure at the district level and intensify the vaccination campaign for adults on mission mode.
On Tuesday, 1,89,794 new cases of corona virus were found in the country while 439 patients died. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Lata Mangeshkar are also among the new patients. Gadkari is in home quarantine, while Lata has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He is in ICU right now. The Indian Council of Medical Research said that 17,61,900 sample tests were conducted for COVID-19 on Tuesday. A total of 69,52,74,380 sample tests have been done so far. At the same time, the COVID vaccination coverage in the country has crossed 153.70 crores. More than 18 lakh precaution doses have been administered so far.
