H3N2 Virus in India: Corona Pandemic now in the country after influenza Of H3N2 virus is becoming a major concern. According to government figures, five patients have died so far due to the virus. This is the first time that deaths are occurring due to influenza. Most cases at present Maharashtra coming out from. This virus is spreading in other states as well. In view of the increasing danger, all the states are on alert mode. Steps are being taken to prevent the virus. Meanwhile, this fear is also haunting that influenza is also not on the path of COVID now? That is, this virus is not becoming as dangerous as COVID.
This question is arising because like COVID, H-3N2 virus is also causing respiratory infection. Means, due to this pneumonia is happening, due to which there is difficulty in breathing. Because of this people are dying. Something similar happened in the COVID virus as well. The oxygen level was also falling due to Covid and patients were dying. Now something similar is being seen in influenza as well, but will it really be as dangerous as influenza COVID or will its cases start decreasing in the next few days?
To know the answers to many such questions, we All India Institute of Medical Sciences Have talked to experts.
what is the difference between covid and influenza
Professor Dr. Yudhveer Singh, Department of Critical Care and Anesthesia, AIIMS has TV9 Told in a conversation with that both influenza and covid cause respiratory infection, that is, these viruses damage the lungs, but due to influenza, there is a risk of pneumonia in very few cases. This virus affects only those with weak immunity and elderly people. Pneumonia caused by influenza is much weaker than COVID. Lungs were getting completely damaged due to COVID, but this is not the case with influenza. This causes a much milder infection than COVID.
Influenza is a seasonal disease
Dr. Yudveer Singh says that COVID virus has been present for the last three years and till date its cases are coming to the fore. Whereas influenza is a seasonal disease. Its cases come in the country every year between January and March. Although this time there has been some mutation in the virus, so the cases are increasing, but there is nothing to worry about like COVID. This is a seasonal disease which may end in the next few weeks. In such a situation, people do not need to panic. Just be careful.
Those with weak immunity are becoming victims
Dr. Singh says that for the last three years people are getting infected with the COVID virus. Due to which the immunity of people is also being affected. After the COVID virus has become mild, now the reason for the increase in influenza is that people with weak immunity are falling prey to it. In the deaths that have been recorded, most of the patients were old and patients of some other disease. In such a situation, there is no need to panic with influenza. This is a very different virus from COVID. It will not take the form of an epidemic.
