Bengaluru. Noted Kannada actress Leelavathi, who worked in more than 600 films including Tamil and Telugu, passed away on Friday. She was 85 years old and was suffering from health issues caused by old age. Sources gave this information.
According to sources, Leelavati breathed her last on Friday evening at a private hospital in Neelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru city. Lilavati had worked in more than 600 films including about 400 Kannada language films. She was living in Neelamangala with her son Vinod Raj for the last several years. Vinod Raj is also an actor.

Vinod Raj said on the death of his mother, “Now I am left alone. Thankfully, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar admitted him to the hospital.”
Leelavati is remembered for her performances in ‘Bhakta Kumbhara’, ‘Sant Tukaram’, ‘Bhakta Prahlad’, ‘Mangalya Yoga’ and Mana Mechida Maddi. Expressing grief over the demise of Lilavati, Siddaramaiah said that the news of her demise is ‘painful’.
Siddaramaiah said, “Last week, after hearing about his illness, I went to his house and inquired about his health and spoke to his son Vinod Raj… I pray for the peace of his soul…. “
