Mumbai : Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi is celebrating her 73rd birthday today. The actress was born on September 18, 1950 in Hyderabad. Shabana Azmi’s father Kaifi Azmi and mother Shaukat Azmi were famous poets. After completing her schooling, the actress completed her graduation in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
Shabana Azmi did an acting course from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune in 1973. The actress started her cinematic career with the film ‘Ankur’ released in 1974. This film was directed by Shyam Benegal. Shabana Azmi was honored with the National Award for her brilliant acting in ‘Ankur’, after which she received the National Award for the films ‘Arth’, ‘Khandar’, ‘Paar’ and ‘Godmother’.
