Censor Board cut these five films and trashed them
Whenever it comes to releasing a picture. Every now and then there is a word which comes into discussion, that is Censor Board. This is a process which has now become a headache for the makers. There are two reasons behind this. First- Without certification, no film can reach the audience. And secondly, this process is becoming very frustrating for the makers. This is because now the interference of the Censor Board has increased a lot. Usually some picture or the other comes in its wrapper.
Let’s start with Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Teri Baat Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. Which was recently given U/A certificate by the Censor Board. But before that, scissors have been used on many scenes. An intimate scene of the picture has been asked to be shortened by 25 percent. Whereas, many intimate scenes were cut. Before this, this had been happening with every picture. Be it Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Dinky’ or Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Fighter’. Many scenes are omitted from the picture. Let us know about those films which became useless due to the censorship of the Censor Board.
This picture is of Diljit Dosanjh. The name is ‘Ghallughara’. CBFC had imposed 21 cuts on this film. And then I got a certificate. The story of the picture was on Sikh human activist, who was Jaswant Singh Khalda. Diljit Dosanjh was playing the role of Jaswant, who worked for the Sikhs. The picture was ready, but the matter got stuck when the turn of certification came. The Censor Board deleted the dialogues and some parts saying that it would incite violence. It reached such a stage that there was talk of changing the title.

A report had revealed that the picture had got an A certificate, but the film making company reached the Bombay High Court. Where an appeal was also made to challenge the cuts. The matter just kept hanging around like this. In the re-decision that came, many cuts were suggested.
# Udta Punjab
Remember Shahid, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Udta Punjab’? The picture came in the year 2016. In this, the story of Punjab was shown, which was never revealed openly before. Abhishek Chaubey prepared the story of Tommy, a drunkard. But the censor board completely spoiled this picture. There are not just one or two but 94 reasons for this. You too might be shocked to hear these figures but this has happened. 94 cuts were made in the picture. Under this, it was even asked to remove the word Punjab from the title.
Initially the Censor Board had refused to give certification. But the makers took the matter to court. After this the Bombay High Court gave orders to CBFC. Only then did the picture get an A certificate. However, instead of stopping, the matter escalated when the picture got leaked even before its release. It was said that someone from the Censor Board had done this. There were a lot of expectations from this film, but its online leak affected it.
Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ was released last year. In this picture released on August 11, the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal i.e. Pankaj Tripathi was shown. This film throws great light on sex education. After all, why is this necessary to be taught in school? But the censor board did not release it before release. This picture was also stuck in the censor board. He said that putting the angle of God and sex education in the same picture could cause an uproar. In this case, there were a total of 27 modifications in the film. Even after doing all this, A certificate was given. Let us tell you what the changes were.
What changes were made? The character of Shiv ji was changed, scenes of frontal nudity were removed, the word High Court was also removed where it was used and many things including the ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ dialogue were changed.
The story is of Banaras, which starts from 1988. In this the journey of the next 8 years is shown. The picture was made by Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Sunny Deol was in the lead role in this. The rest of the actors were Sakshi Tanwar, Saurabh Shukla, Ravi Kishan and Mukesh Tiwari. After much deliberation, preparations were made to release it in 2012. Now before this the makers had to pass the censor board stage. Here the matter got stuck. When the picture reached CBFC, they banned it. The reason given for this was the abusive language in the film.
The makers of the film reached court against this decision of the Censor Board. A long battle of two years was also fought. Meanwhile the picture got leaked online. In the year 2017, Delhi High Court’s decision regarding this picture came. He had given clearance to it. It was passed with one cut. Also got A certificate. But many good films were ruined due to the scissors of the Censor Board.
The last picture in this list is the crime thriller ‘Paanch’. This film was written and produced by Anurag Kashyap. But do you know that this picture has been banned by the Censor Board. The picture was to be released in 2003. The Censor Board had termed the crime adult film as a threat to the society. There was another reason behind banning it. In fact, one and a half years after the picture was submitted, the Censor Board handed over a list to the makers. In this list it was told what changes were to be made in the picture. The producer needed money to make the changes, but he could not collect the money in time.
At that time even Rs 2-3 crore was a huge amount. Whatever money was there had been used in making the picture. No one was even ready to invest on it. In such a situation, the film became junk due to the censor board.
